Description
- We're looking for a Technical Lead to own the technical direction of the Login squad — a small, cross functional team responsible for a security-sensitive part of the platform (auth gateway, SSO, identity). You'll be the squad's engineering owner: accountable for architecture decisions, technical feasibility calls, and the quality gate before code reaches production, while managing and growing a team of backend and mobile engineers.
- 5+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years in a technical leadership / team lead role.
- Strong backend fundamentals — Java, Spring Boot, Kafka (or equivalent JVM microservices stack); comfortable reading/reviewing mobile code (iOS/Android) even if not hands-on daily;
- Working knowledge of authentication/authorization concepts (OAuth2/OIDC, SSO, token-based auth, session management) — this squad owns the login/identity domain;
- Experience owning architecture decisions and writing/defending ADRs;
- Track record of direct people management: 1:1s, performance reviews, growth plans, hiring;
- Comfortable operating inside a gated SDLC/PDLC (release gates, change management, cross-functional sign-offs — 2LOD/Compliance/AppSec);
- Fluent in English; Russian and/or Azerbaijani a strong plus for local stakeholder communication;
- Prior experience in banking/fintech, especially identity or payments domains;
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum ceremonies and working alongside a Product Owner (not just a PM);
- Exposure to security review processes (threat modeling, pen-test remediation).

- Technical ownership — own architecture-significant decisions for the squad (ADR authoring, feasibility assessment, rollback planning) and escalate to the Architecture Committee (ACE/IAC/GAC) when needed.;
- Delivery gatekeeping — Responsible for technical feasibility sign-off at PDLC gates; Accountable for testing execution and master-branch code review before release;
- People management — direct line management of a ~6-person squad: backend (Java/Spring Boot), iOS, Android, QA, and IT Business Analyst; hiring, mentoring, performance and growth planning;
- Security-first mindset — the squad owns auth/authorization surfaces; proactively identify and remediate vulnerabilities (e.g., improper authorization, token handling), and coordinate with AppSec/InfoSec on pen test and sign-off cycles;
- Cross-functional coordination — work daily with the Product Owner (delivery partner, not a direct report), Tribe Tech Lead, Chapter Leads, QA, and Agile Coach across the full PDLC (Ideation → Discovery → Development → Deployment → Post-Analysis);
- Hands-on when needed — stay technically credible: review code, unblock the team on hard problems, contribute to design of complex flows;
- Process ownership — enforce Definition of Ready/Done at technical gates, drive sprint ceremonies (planning, grooming, demo, retro) from the engineering side;
- Team You'll Lead A cross-platform squad: Senior + Junior Backend Engineers, iOS Engineer, Android Engineer, QA Engineer, IT Business Analyst — plus close daily partnership with a Product Owner.
